I have been checking for early predictions on this week's opening day MCFL games. Nothing doing yet, everyone must be busy getting their teams ready. I expect an exciting, action packed weekend of football!
Flint Fury at Columbus Fire
Detroit Seminoles at Kings Comets
S. Michigan Timberwolves at Louisville Bulls
Let the games begin!!!

Fury @ Fire. Fury have competed in their preseason games. Tough assignment again to open the MCFL season. I think they opened in Columbus last year as well. Fire have only played one game, but it was a quality win against an always good team. Fury will have their hands full, but I think will make it a more competitive game than last year.
Seminoles @ Comets. Seminoles are undefeated and look to be as good as ever. Comets are the defending champs, but it looks like it may take them a few weeks to get things rolling. We'll see how much the Comets can improve in one game. I like the Seminoles in a fairly close game.
T-Wolves @ Bulls. T-Wolves are 9-5 all time versus the Bulls. Bulls have won the last 3 meetings between the teams. T-Wolves coming off a big win, but will probably travel light. T-Wolves/Bulls always decided in the 4th quarter the last 10 years, I think this will be no different.

SMT vs. Bulls, history is not good for SMT, odds say loss here. SMT has three games played, two against tough opponents and better use that notion to the fullest extent. Not sure if I agree on the "SMT travels light" observation though. Seminoles with full team against Comets full team, I would take Noles. On Long Road trips, Noles never travel well. I have to take the defending champions until some other team says and does different. I give the Comets the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise. I would bet the Noles show up with something in the 20's for a roster number at this game.

Take it from a guy with a little insider information - The Noles "SHOULD" travel good all season. With the return of Coach Jackson (Moose), Hunt & Granger - aka - Bret Farvre - and the taste of a very bad season last year (Seminole standards), team recruiting was outstanding this season. The roster size and practice turnon has been phenomenal and bigger then any Seminole roster to my recollection. That means - EVER!!!! We probably have 35 more guys then we had last season (no exaggeration). We traveled with about 49 roster players to Traverse City and that's not exactly around the corner either so I think the spoils of complacency sorta set in last season and a lot of the player commitment and work ethic just wasn't there. We thought with the absence of Hunt teams would still fold over the mighty Seminoles Mystique - NOT!!! Our team was sorta embarrassed by Seminole standards with a few things that happen last year ON and OFF the field (team performance, player commitment, the forfeit, etc.). I don't know what's different other then Hunt. Revenge, Embarrassment, whatever the motivation - things have just changed. This season is like night and day and intensity like Hunt, is BACK like the old days. If you was at the Ravens game you saw the old Seminoles - about 65 dressed ball players. We kind of went back to old formula, recruited a strong core of young guys that left the D for college and came back and just wasn't doing anything. Went back to heavy hitting and smash mouth contact at practice and intensity has sky-rocketed from years past. We had 40 guys at practice Tuesday and Thursday before a game always is more. FF - if you get a chance stop by the practice field today - Chicago/Wyoming 7:30PM. Not by any means am I saying we're the team to beat in the MCFL. To my recollection the 2 teams in the championship were the Columbus Fire and the Kings Comets. Like every new MCFL season always new surprises. Good Lord, where have you been? Message boards have been a bit, shall we say....QUIET. I heard from several sources on the Michigan Board you guys traveled light to Elk Rapids a few weeks ago. Still going with the Comets, they are the defending champs and until that changes they get the benefit of the doubt at home. Last year I took heat(from Comet players) picking the T-Wolves over the Comets in Monroe because of the recent history of the Comets(they sucked) and they went all the way. In fairness, now they get the benefit of the doubt because of their past(MCFL champs) and I am sticking with them(hear that Comet players and coaches?) I just may show up with my abacus at the practice today and slide beads. 40 at practice? BTW, wheres Hunt coaching this year? They must be running out of still vertical High Schools in the big D. now that my old HS is going to the ground. |

Batman, Trust me we are not overlooking ANYONE, especially the Noles. #1 we went down to Nashville very short and got our butts handed to us and if we play like we did last week it will be ugly. #2 we are 0-6 against the Noles, trust me there is no team that has had our number like the Noles. I would like nothing more than to FINALLY beat the Noles, last year seemed like our shot and we blew it. With the Noles revamped and reloaded and we "should" be back to full force for this game this could be a classic. I know the Noles will be ready! |

Breaking out the karma sticks for Week 1!  14 45 Fire come loaded for bear and win their opener big. 17 at 19 Last year's Team of Destiny falls to the 2008 Team of Destiny in a close one. Is that Bullrush I see doing a war dance?  31 at 21 As much as I'm tempted to take the Comets at home, I just can't shake the feeling that the mighty will play this season with some serious sting in their saddle after last season. Therefore, I'm taking the 'noles on the road in a statement game. Visions? Hallucinations? I can't tell at this point, but the karma sticks are in full force already!  |
